Our story: Patients are at the heart of what we do
Patients have been at the center of our company since the beginning. RespirTech was co-founded in 2004 by parents motivated to find an effective airway clearance device for their son who was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF). Since being acquired by Philips in 2017, our goal of helping to improve people’s quality of life by helping them breathe better is stronger than ever. We help people with cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, COPD, neuromuscular diseases and other pulmonary disorders clear their airways and breathe easier. Our singular focus is helping improve the quality of life for those living with respiratory complications. When a doctor prescribes one of the respiratory care solutions we offer, we aim to make starting therapy as easy as possible. Our Customer Care team manages insurance paperwork, reaches out to doctors’ offices when necessary, coordinates equipment delivery to a patient’s home and offers ongoing support. Licensed respiratory therapists and nurses visit patients at home to show them how to use their device and answer questions. Our friendly, knowledgeable clinical experts understand respiratory conditions and the equipment we provide. They are a great resource for help and information.
Our history: The innovations continue
World-renowned pediatric pulmonologist Warren Warwick, M.D. and Lee Hansen, MPH, set out to develop and enhance vest therapy for children with CF at the University of Minnesota. Their ideas are found in the unique triangle waveform technology produced during InCourage airway clearance therapy. The Philips InCourage system is now used by thousands of patients with a wide range of conditions needing airway secretion clearance therapy. We continue to expand the portfolio of state-of-the-art products we offer for respiratory care in the hospital or at home. Today’s solutions, like the Philips Respironics CoughAssist T70, provide data capture capabilities. This information helps patients, caregivers and healthcare teams better assess when and how devices are used in order to optimize therapy for each individual’s situation. RespirTech also holds the world’s largest bronchiectasis patient registry — the result of our team talking to thousands of patients over the years. We periodically check in with patients to see how they’re doing with their therapy, how they’re breathing and clearing their lungs, whether they’ve been hospitalized, and how they feel overall. This registry is just one more way we keep in touch with patients and their needs so we can continue to better serve them.
