ICS – 1 System: High Frequency Chest Compression (HFCC) Therapy

HFCC is a safe and effective airway clearance therapy (ACT). It is supported by more than 80 basic research and clinical trials in diverse patient populations including those with cystic fibrosis (CF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), acute illness, post surgical status and ventilator-dependence. See RespirTech’s Annotated Bibliography for a comprehensive list and synopses of studies.

Outcomes include but are not limited to:
  • Improved or sustained long-term pulmonary function scores (PFTs)
  • Reduced annual incidence of pneumonias, hospitalizations, ICU days, etc.
  • Quality of Life (QOL) gains including reduced absenteeism, improved exercise capacity, reduced dyspnea
  • Reduced healthcare costs

HFCC is widely used and is increasingly preferred by both physicians and patients; since 1988, more than 70,000 devices have been distributed. HFCC with the inCourage™ system is indicated for patients who require ACT and have contraindications for or inability to effectively use technique-dependent ACTs.
