Clinical Trials: Secretion Clearance

The inCourage™ system is recognized by the FDA as a secretion clearance device. It is intended for patients who unable to clear airway secretions without therapeutic intervention. Primary diagnosis is not a factor.

Peer-reviewed clinical research studies show that HFCC machines provide therapy that is superior or equivalent to professionally administered chest physiotherapy (CPT).

Two large randomized controlled trials (RCTs) showed volume for volume mucus clearance results superior to professionally administered CPT.

  • Scherer [1998]
  • Braggion [1995]
Dozens of smaller studies show that HFCC is as effective as alternate airway clearance modalities.

More than a score of additional clinical trials and basic research studies show that HFCC consistently, reliably does what it is intended to do – help evacuate retained secretions from all segments of the lung.
